PRESS RELEASE COVERLET MUSEUM ANNOUNCES OPENING DATE The grand opening of The National Museum of the American Coverlet has been set for Saturday, May 26, during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Special events will include the annual meeting of the Colonial Coverlet Guild of America, a “show and tell” session, lectures, and more. Plans are underway and details will be posted on the Museum website, www.coverletmuseum.org as they are firmed up. The festivities will be open to the public. In the meantime, visitors are welcome and the Museum is now open daily to all who wish to see the progress. New Line of Cotton Fabrics – In a related article, the Coverlet Museum Shop has announced a new line of cotton fabrics, using pattern motifs taken from coverlets in the Museum collection. Developed in cooperation with designer Mary Koval and Windham Fabrics, the cottons will be aimed at high end quilt shops and will be available by the yard or in quilt kits. “This is a wonderful opportunity for a crossover market, to expose the public to the colorful, classic designs seen in coverlets; and the royalties will help support the Museum. It is a win-win situation!” said Melinda Zongor, Director/Curator. “We hope to have the cotton fabrics available at the Museum Shop in time for our grand opening,” she continued. “It’s shaping up to be a very exciting weekend.” The Museum is located in the historic former Bedford Common School building at 322 South Juliana Street, Bedford, PA. For more information on memberships, the grand opening and/or the Museum Shop, phone 814.623.1588, email info@coverletmuseum.org or visit the Museum website. |
