Building & Facilities 322 South Juliana
Street The Museum is housed in the (1859) former
Common School building at 322 South Juliana Street in Bedford, Pennsylvania.
The building sits on 2 acres in Bedford’s historic district and
is a short walk from the town The two-story brick building and attached one-story annex are 30,000 sq. ft. in size. The first floor of the main building and the annex will be used by the Museum for exhibits, the Museum Shop, a reference library, workshops and seminars, special events, storage, conservation, photography, exhibit preparation, food service, and more. The second floor of the main building is currently, and will continue to be, occupied by other businesses; and the income from those rentals will be used to help defray the cost of running the building.
We are especially pleased to have found a building that is of the same period as the coverlets, and what a beautiful building it is! Many local residents have expressed great pleasure that the building will continue to be used for educational purposes. A surprising number of people have said, “It
was meant to be!” |
