The National Museum of the American Coverlet
is the first independent, year-round institution
devoted to American woven coverlets.

Coverlet Museum

NMAC gives coverlets the recognition and respect they deserve, while bringing their history to life.

The Museum opened in Bedford, Pennsylvania’s historic (1859) former Common School building in May of 2006. Now in its sixth year, it has welcomed visitors from around the world.

NMAC offers changing exhibitions, generally showing 50 or more coverlets at a time, along with special events, classes, and a Shop.

We are generally open daily, seven days a week. You are cordially invited to visit and take an informal guided tour. If you are traveling a distance, we encourage you to call ahead and let us know you’re coming.

Coverlet Museum Adds Online Features

NMAC has recently added three new online features to its array of resources for the “coverlet person.” Join/subscribe links for each one can be found in the left-hand column throughout this website.

Facebook
“Like” us on Facebook!  Our page is up and running, with exhibition pictures, informal news and announcements, schedule updates, and more.

New Yahoo Group - NMAC Collectors Corner
Collectors’ Corner is a discussion group, hosted on Yahoo, for collectors, researchers, and anyone from newbie to expert who is interested in learning more about coverlets.  Group members can post questions and photos, respond to other folks, or just “listen in” to gain from the wealth of knowledge available there.

An electronic archive of past and present issues of the Museum’s member newsletter Yarns can also be found at the Collectors’ Corner.

The Group is moderated by NMAC Board members Ron Walter and Richard Jeryan.  It is free, by invitation only, for Museum members.  Non-Museum members (and not-yet Museum members) are welcome on a limited trial basis.

To request an invitation, use the purple “Yahoo Groups – Join Now” link at left, and then click on the “Join Now” button that appears on our Group homepage.  To find it directly on Yahoo, use the address http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NMAC_collectors.

E-Notes
Our email newsletter is designed to handle news, announcements and event schedules that, in some cases, will be more time-sensitive than the articles in our hardcopy member newsletter Yarns.  Since many of our Museum members do not have email, there will, of necessity, be some duplication; but E-Notes will tend to be more current, while Yarns will have different, more detailed articles.

Yarns is a benefit of Museum membership.  E-Notes are free to all interested parties.  You can opt-in or out at any time.  See the “Join our Email List” form at left.
