Beginning Weaving
Friday/Saturday/Sunday June 7-9
Instructor: Ann Jones

An introduction to weaving on a four harness loom (or a refresher for folks who have been away for a while), this three-day class will take you through two projects.

The intention is to begin to get you familiar with the process and encourage you to continue weaving in the future.

The first day is spent weaving a small project from beginning to completion.  The next two days are spent on a “work blanket” that is woven with perle cotton in squares, each square showing a different color and weave combination.  It is a reference project that makes a beautiful table runner or wall hanging when done.

There is a textbook for this class.  It serves as a reference for learning setup and weave structures as well as many other topics that beginners and more experienced weavers need to know.

Class size is limited to 6 students.
Member          $175 Fee includes morning snacks each day.  Materials and/or reference book are additional.
Non-Member  $195 Fee includes morning snacks each day.  Materials and/or reference book are additional.

Rug Show

September 1-28, 2013
at the Museum

In partnership with Ligonier, Pennsylvania’s well-known and respected Woolley Fox, hooked rugs from around the country will be on display alongside coverlets during the month of September. The history of hooked rugs is as varied as the history of coverlets Both were used to dress up simple décor and add a splash of color; and both are now coveted as a true art form and symbol of American life in the 19th century. Twelve new rug patterns designed by Barbara Carroll along with Keith Kemmer, inspired by the coverlets, will make their debut during this event. This exhibition will be open to the public with Museum admission, September 1-28. (For more on hooked rugs with Woolley Fox’s Barb Carroll, see our Rug Workshop (Sept. 24-27) and Hook-In (Sept 27-28) events.    Rug entry form
